Xavier Mirza Presents Research at UH Undergraduate Research Day

2012 Oct 17

Xavier Mirza, a University of Houston computer engineering major from Sugar Land, Texas, was one of more than 100 undergraduates who presented research at Undergraduate Research Day at the University of Houston (UH).

Mirza participated in a group research project with four other students involving the development of a self-powered pacemaker. The project represented the engineering technology department at the UH College of Technology.

Undergraduate Research Day showcases the achievements of undergraduate researchers from a wide variety of majors and colleges at the UH. This year's group of students represented more than 10 colleges and 30 academic departments and included the 2012 Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) students and members of the UH Honors College.

Three students gave oral presentations of their research on topics covering biology, earth and atmospheric sciences, and mathematics while more than 100 presented posters showcasing their research projects conducted within the last year.

Undergraduate Research Day is coordinated by the UH Office of Undergraduate Research and The Honors College.
